Cardiac Arrest & CPR in Corporate Environments
Cardiac arrest can happen any time and without warning; and when it happens, an emergency procedure called cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is performed. Effective CPR administration can manually preserve intact brain function until further measures are taken to restore spontaneous blood circulation and breathing in a person post-cardiac arrest.
In the corporate environment, companies have been registering their employees for CPR classes and CPR trainings which aim to educate employees on how to effectively administer CPR as well as train them on how to manage emergency situations.
CPR Facts & Statistics:
- Approximately 95 percent of sudden cardiac arrest victims die before reaching the hospital, largely due to a lack of bystander CPR.
- The average American spends 1/3 of their adult life at work.
- Death from cardiac arrest is not inevitable. If more employees knew CPR, more lives could be saved.
- After someone experiences cardiac arrest, with in four to six minutes brain death starts to occur if CPR isn’t performed.
- Effective CPR, provided immediately after cardiac arrest, doubles the victim’s chances of survival.
